Jonny joins the Interlink team

Jonny Thomas, Recruitment Consultant27 November 2017

Jonny is the latest new addition to the team, joining the business at an exciting time of growth.  With a solid six year’s recruitment experience behind him, he’s entering the world of legal recruitment for the first time, a prospect he’s excited about, as he shares with us in his first blog post.

My experience
Working with people has always been my thing – I started after college working as a concierge in the hospitality industry for a few years, but I felt I needed more of a challenge.  I started my recruitment experience on the administration side at a large recruitment business in Manchester, quickly learning my way and showcasing my people skills to become a recruitment consultant.  Over the six years, I spent time assisting teams recruiting across the hospitality and catering, construction, driving and industrial sectors to name a few, with plenty of exposure working closely with managers on specific recruitment projects, many of which were high quality and some high volume.

The legal recruitment challenge
This is my first time working in legal recruitment, a new industry so it will be a challenge for me, but one I am really looking forward to.  I am very adaptable, quick to learn and working in recruitment you must know your stuff, so if anything, I will be focussed and determined to grow into the role to offer the best service I can.  It’s also great to know there is a wealth of knowledge and experience within the team here, people to support me and who I can call on for advice.

I love the great outdoors
I am twenty-eight years young and was born and raised in Salford, Manchester.  I currently live in Hulme and have a short walk to the city centre for work each day, which suits me fine.   I enjoy the outdoors a lot and try to be as active in the open air as much as I can.  When I am not at work, I enjoy carp fishing, gardening and permaculture (depending on the weather, of course).
For those who don’t now, permaculture is the practice of sustainable living based on the environment you are in.  For example, creating a plot in your garden or in containers indoors to grow all-natural, organic fruit, vegetables or herbs.  These are all grown using pure, natural water that’s harvested by yourself and using recycled nutrients from natural sources.  I love it because I get so much satisfaction growing my own tomatoes, potatoes or carrots – and they taste so much better than those brought from a store.  They also haven’t been sprayed with any chemicals for growth or pesticides, so you aren’t consuming harmful toxins which I believe has a massive impact on those consuming them.

Start my day the right way
As well as a walk to work, I am a gym member and very much enjoy starting my day with a workout, swim and a bit of time in the steam room.  All good before a busy day in the office and especially as I look to the year ahead, starting 2018 with a busy desk, meeting a network of talented conveyancers across the South of England, helping to introduce them to my clients.  Looking ahead, I can’t wait to get stuck in at Interlink Recruitment and see the business develop further, as much as myself.

You’d never know…
A few years back, I had a spell in the military as an Infantier in the Duke of Lancaster regiment.

Jonny will be working alongside our growing Conveyancing team, helping place conveyancers at all levels across the South of the country.  If you are considering a new role or would like a confidential discussion about your options, call Jonny on 0161 839 4388 or drop him an email to,
