My Role at Interlink
I work on the International Team here at Interlink as a Legal Recruiter. My main focus is on Senior Lawyer and Partner hires in Central Europe and African emerging economies.
I work with a range of clients in all private practice areas who either have established offices around the world or are looking to get a foothold in emerging legal markets internationally.
From helping build up a core team for a law firm in Johannesburg to recruiting for associates in Brussels, I am constantly exposed to new and interesting people from all walks of life. In turn, this has given me a new perspective and allowed me to gain a newfound appreciation for the world, noticing similarities between people regardless of where they might live.
While completing my law degree at the University of Liverpool, I also worked in retail which helped me to develop several skills that I have now transferred across to my role as a Recruiter. After deciding that a career in law was not for me, I did not want my degree to go to waste so I decided becoming a Legal Recruitment Consultant would allow me to use my knowledge whilst also using the skills I learnt in retail.
Managing and building relationships is always something I have felt came naturally to me and, for this reason, it seemed only logical to step into the world of recruitment. Joining Interlink last year has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. The variety every day keeps me engaged, as tomorrow will always be wildly different from today, not to mention the incredible highs as well as having to tackle the complex challenges that come along with the job.
Going from learning law to recruitment, I feel as though the work I do has given me an incredibly strong knowledge of the legal systems and markets, not just in the UK but also in Europe and Africa. It is fascinating to see how trends in the market in any one country or jurisdiction can have lasting impacts on legal systems thousands of miles away.
Outside of Work
Outside of work I like to relax by watching sports. I am a massive football fan (Manchester City), which should not be a surprise to my co-workers as I have a massive Etihad licence plate hanging from my computer.
I also regularly watch Gaelic Football, Rugby as well as basketball and have spent several years playing each of these sports, to varying degrees of success (I was pretty terrible at basketball). I’m also particularly interested in history and politics and regularly read articles and literature on the two topics.
